I went to Speigel On-Line today to find out what the German Press was saying about the Pope’s trip to the United States. I shouldn’t have been surprised at what I read.

So I decided I would write an e-mail to Herr Schwabe (see below).
Mr. Schwabe,
I read your article entitled, “The Cowboy and the Shepherd.” I am rather disappointed, not withstanding the fact that the title itself was insulting, you went on to point out that the pope was flying in a Boeing aircraft and that one relied on Military force and the other on prayer. For what reason I do not know, however your choice of words and phrases shows your inherent biases.
Admittingly, it was a rather quick e-mail but I thought it was important that I write down what I was thinking immediately after reading the Spiegel article. I am not Catholic, but I like the Pope. I like what he says about abortion and most of his other stands. Most, not all! Sorry, but I can’t be convinced that abortion is nothing more than a womens choice. It is more than that! How sad that people view life as an inconvenience! Have you ever wondered why the people who support abortion rights are the ones alive? I believe it is important to have a culture of life vs what the media tries to feed us! I also agree with what the pope says about Islam. I tire of lefties trying to force cultural relativism on the west. I am not going to be apologize for being successful or free!
However, your bigoted attitudes are not going to sully my love for the German People and Deutschland! You may have the right to put out the garbage you do in your writings but I have the right to oppose it and counteract your venom.
Too bad, you can’t put into words what the real America is like. You know the where it’s citizens donate over 300 Billion Dollars to charity every year. The one that opens its arms to more people every year than all of the other countries in the world combined! Maybe if you started to you would start believing in yourself!
As for the Cowboy comment, I am beginning to think there might be a little jealousy. Who wouldn’t want to live a carefree lifestyle of a cowboy? I know I would, I like to ride and I even have cowboy boots! Oh yeah, and, “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

Great rebuttal to the Speigel article. I read it as well and was disgusted , but this is nothing new coming from that gargage magazine!
By the way , did they ever respond to it? I’m sure they didn’t. They never respond to my feedback either. They have no balls!!
